Feet, Insoles And Posture

The foot is one of the most active “signal transmitters” for our muscle control. With the help of this information, the brain regulates the tension in our muscles and thus controls movements and joint loads.

Sensorimotor insoles, like the ones we use, have individual pressure points that we determine based on muscle function tests and 3D POSTURE ANALYSIS . These help to coordinate and regulate muscles. They pass on information to the neural system via muscle chains and fascia. The goal: muscle chains should become more stable and joint strain reduced.

In our practice we use so-called “active” insoles. These do not provide a footbed. The concept is to activate the foot muscles through the pressure points in order to improve the shape of the foot during movement.

In contrast, the classic, molded insoles are called “passive” because their concept essentially consists in passive support of the shape of the foot. They are particularly useful for severely deformed feet, but only activate weak foot muscles to a limited extent. The type of insole recommended must be discussed on an individual basis. In our practice we work with “active insoles” over 80% of the time.
