Acupuncture
ACUPUNCTURE IS A BRANCH OF TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE
and deals with the flow of life energy - the so-called "Chi" - in the body. Chinese doctors assume that Chi circulates through the body on energy pathways, the "meridians". A disruption of this flow can cause illness and dysfunction. By stimulating acupuncture points on the meridians, blockages can be released and balance restored.
Acupuncture with needles and also the treatment of acupuncture points by pressure or tapping has proven to be very helpful in the context of osteopathic treatment in our practice.
It offers us additional access to change information in the body and has its place in the treatment of injury patterns and chronic muscle disorders.
Western medicine also has neurological models for the effects
Numerous classic acupuncture points are located above the passage points of the nerves through fascia and have direct connections to muscles, nerves and brain areas. This model could explain the positive effect of acupuncture in treating pain. We also regularly use the impulses from acupuncture points in the treatment of injury patterns and chronic fascia tension.
