THE RATIO OF OMEGA 3 TO OMEGA 6 FATTY ACIDS CAN HAVE A POSITIVE EFFECT ON BRAIN FUNCTION

Researchers investigated the effect of a diet containing omega 3 and reduced omega 6 in patients with bipolar disorder. The study group received an increased amount of the two most important omega 3 fatty acids, DHA and EPH. This diet did indeed significantly improve the normally highly fluctuating moods of the intervention group. The participants' general mood, energy levels, irritability and pain also showed a clear stabilization.
No therapy recommendation can be derived from the results, but there is an effect of the diet and the omega 3 and 6 fatty acids on brain function.
